to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will.” Barack Obama in October 2011
Barack Obama thinks he is the king of America. He doesn’t
care if Congress passes his agenda. He doesn’t care what the Constitution says.
If he wants to do something, the heck with the law, he’ll find a way to do it
anyway.
On Friday, a federal court decided that Obama had violated
the Constitution when he made a series of “recess” appointments to the National
Labor Relations Board. The White House says it will appeal this decision to the
Supreme Court, but if the ruling holds fast, then those appointments and the
hundreds of orders from that Board since may be invalidated.
This all began when the Senate, including Democrats, did not
confirm Obama’s selections for the NLRB. Although the Senate claimed to be in
pro forma session, the White House said they were in recess, making the
appointments anyway. The Court said Obama’s actions were unconstitutional.
This is only one item in a slew of “dictatorial”
maneuvers by Barack Obama and his “politburo” of Progressive Socialists. Here are a few more:
- He used executive
privilege to prevent Attorney General Eric Holder from providing documents
in the Fast and Furious drug operation, denying Congress its lawful right
to investigate federal operations. What is Obama trying to hide?
- When Congress would not
pass his version of the Dream Act for illegal aliens, Obama did it himself
with an executive order. He simply ignores the fact that there is an
existing immigration law that was passed by Congress.
- He doesn’t like the
criminalization of marijuana under federal law, so he ordered the Justice
Department to not enforce the law.
- He doesn’t like the
Defense of Marriage Act, but Congress won’t repeal it so he ordered the
government to stop defending it in court.
- He decided he didn’t like
the No Child Left Behind Act, but Congress won’t change that either so he
allowed the Department of Education to issue waivers that violate this statute passed by Congress.
- When Congress (including
Democrats) refused to pass his cap and trade program, Obama allowed the EPA to do it
anyway by re-interpreting Congress's Clean Air Act.
- Even his own party didn’t
support the card-check program that would eliminate secret ballots during
union elections. His National Labor Relations Board appointees (the ones
the Court says were illegal) issued regulations to pave the way for the
card-check objective.
- After Congress wouldn’t
pass the Internet regulatory program Obama wanted, the Federal
Communications Commission did it anyway with new regulations.
- Obama has issued
twenty-three executive orders relating to gun control, even though such
orders will infringe on the people's right to bear arms. He is
waiting for Congress to act on his gun control proposals, but if they don’t
you can bet there will be some new executive orders or regulations from
Obama, the Department of Justice or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and
Firearms. His proposals are clear violations of the Second Amendment to
the Constitution.
- He has signed into law
legislation which allows the indefinite detention of Americans without charge
or trial, thus violating the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.
- The deficit spending under
Obama continues unabated. He has already added more to the nation’s
deficit than all previous presidents combined. He has refused to reduce
spending or move toward a balanced budget, instead seeking only to get
more tax revenue to spend more money. He told House Speaker John Boehner
that we “don’t have a spending problem.” Do you sometimes wonder if Obama is intentionally trying to bankrupt America and destroy the value of the dollar?
Those of you who reelected Barack Obama have moved America one
step closer to a full-blown dictatorship. This man believes we are peasants who
are too stupid to know what is best for us. We are supposed to be a nation of laws with three separate but equal branches of government. It doesn't work when the only branch that makes laws is the executive branch. It also doesn't work when the executive branch decides which laws it will obey and which ones it will ignore.
The federal government under Barack Obama is extending its
tentacles into every aspect of American life. Obama has four more years to grow
government control to levels never seen by Americans or anticipated by our
Founding Fathers. He and his administration want to control the air you
breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, the property you live on, the cars you drive, the
communications you use, your ability to defend yourself, and just about every
single aspect of life. This is intrusive government at its worst.
And it may just be too late to stop it….
