Resistance Begins To New York Gun Law

Almost 238 years ago, British General Gage sent British soldiers to Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts to capture patriot leaders John Hancock and Sam Adams and to seize arms and gunpowder from the colonial militia.

Unfortunately for the British, patriot spies learned of the plan. When the militia confronted the British, the first shots were fired in the American Revolution.

Here we are in the 21^st century, and the over-reaching Obama administration intends to enact laws that will eventually result in the seizure of our weapons and the neutralization of our ability to defend ourselves. If and when the federal government passes such un-Constitutional laws, we will learn what type of resistance the American people will begin. Hopefully, it will be a peaceful resistance.

To get an idea of what might happen nationally, take a look at the recent New York gun control law, pushed by Progressive dictator of New York state, Andrew Cuomo, and supported by his cohort, the evil mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, also known as the soda jerk. One of the numerous provisions under this bill is that New Yorkers who own banned guns can retain ownership, but they must register those weapons with the state within a year.

This is where the trouble begins.

As Brian Olesen of the American Shooters Supply told the New York Post, “I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes.”

Although New York state officials are aware that there will be some level of resistance, they remain intent on carrying out the details of the law. The real problem will be how to deal with tens of thousands of citizens who refuse to register their firearms. Even New York doesn’t have enough prisons for all those people.

And if Congress is foolish enough to try and impose similar requirements on the entire nation, then the scale of the resistance will be massive. Millions, perhaps tens of millions of Americans will refuse to register their firearms, creating a new class of political criminal and further dividing America. 

Remember that history proves that registration of guns is the last step before confiscation of those guns. Also remember that the Second Amendment was not about hunting; it was about self-defense and the ability of citizens to resist tyrannical government.

There is no doubt that there will be some type of resistance to far-reaching state or federal gun control laws, especially those that require registration of firearms. We must hope and pray that our Congressional leaders will have enough common sense not to pass such fiercely anti-Second Amendment laws.

But if they do, then each man and woman must decide for themselves how they will deal with this infringement on the right to bear arms. Any resistance should be peaceful, but there will be resistance.
