CBS And "Amazing Race" Apologize To Vietnam Veterans

Wreckage of downed B-52 in Vietnam used as prop for "Amazing Race"

It’s amazing, but CBS has apologized for the insensitive broadcast of the “Amazing Race” show from Hanoi, Vietnam. While it is sad that these professional broadcasters would not have foreseen such an insult to Vietnam veterans, it is admirable that they are willing to admit they were not only wrong, but really, really wrong.

Just try a little deep thinking next time, CBS.

CBS apologized Sunday night one week after the television show “Amazing Race” broadcast what critics called an “anti-American” segment that offended Vietnam War veterans.

“We want to apologize to veterans – particularly those who served in Vietnam – as well as to their families and any viewers who were offended by the broadcast,” said host Phil Keoghan in a statement at the beginning of Sunday’s night’s episode. “All of us here have the most profound respect for the men and women who fight for our country.”

The episode caused widespread outrage among war veterans.
