Ohio Prosecutor Goes Too Far – Indicts Punxsutawney Phil – Seeks Death Penalty

While it is easy for this Florida boy to have some sympathy for those who choose to live in the frozen north, the fact remains that you guys picked the snow states as your home. But I guess all that “White Christmas” feeling has diminished by now, huh? As for me, I’m cleaning my pool every day and enjoying the Florida lifestyle. (Put a little more sunscreen on my back, will you sweetie?)

But for Ohio prosecutor Michael Gmoser to criminally indict a poor groundhog because his prediction of an early spring fell flat is just plain going too far. Phil did not commit a criminal act.

But they should sue the heck out of him in a civil court for malpractice……

Has Punxsutawney Phil given his last forecast?

A prosecutor in Ohio is reportedly seeking the death penalty for the famous rodent who emerged from his home in Gobbler’s Knob, Pa., on Feb. 2 and did not see his shadow, translating to an “early spring,” according to his handlers. But Michael Gmoser, prosecuting attorney in Butler County, said Thursday that Phil's inaccurate forecast warrants capital punishment, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
